Opening Prayer
Scripture Focus
Joshua 1:9
Be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God is with you
Reflection
Courage is not the absence of fear but action in spite of it. When God told Joshua to be strong and courageous, it was not because the challenges ahead were small — they were enormous. It was because God's presence made Joshua's fear irrelevant to his ability to succeed. The same is true for us. Every person faces moments that require courage: a difficult conversation, a new beginning, standing up for what is right when it is unpopular. Biblical courage is distinctive because it is anchored not in self-confidence but in God-confidence. David did not face Goliath believing in his own throwing arm. He faced the giant believing in a God who was bigger than any adversary. Today, identify one thing you have been avoiding because of fear. Ask God to walk with you into that situation. You will likely still feel afraid — and that is fine. Courage is doing it anyway because God is with you.
